The Financial Risk Group, Inc. (“FRG”) is pleased to announce that Dr. Jimmie H. Lenz is joining the firm as a principal in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Lenz, who has held a number of senior management roles within the finance community, will work closely with FRG’s growing global client base to develop risk management solutions. His expertise in financial services, risk management, and data analytics makes his appointment a natural fit for FRG, which recently celebrated its 10 year anniversary as one of the world’s premier risk management services firms.
“I’ve known Jimmie for quite some time and have always been impressed by his deep understanding of risk management principles, methodologies and regulatory landscape.” said Mike Forno, a partner at FRG. “His ability to distill complex concepts into easily digestible information and action on them with elegant solutions will greatly benefit our clients. We couldn’t be more excited to have him join the family.”
“FRG embraces cutting edge thought, and then puts it into practice, something you just don’t see in industry, and certainly not in most consulting environments,” Lenz said. “The opportunity to create unique solutions and expand the current practice areas is really compelling.”
Lenz most recently led predictive analytics for Wells Fargo Wealth and Investment Management and prior to that served as the Chief Risk Officer for Wells Fargo Advisors, the third largest brokerage firm in the United States.
He began his career 25 years ago as an institutional trader in San Francisco. He quickly embraced electronic and later, quantitative trading, realizing that he reveled in fast-moving atmospheres that required both strategic thought and immediate action. His successes propelled him on a career path that included leading an NYE broker dealer with foreign and domestic operations, where he could test the demand and capacity of electronic trading platforms.
Through the years Lenz has developed an in-depth understanding of the capital markets industry. He is a prolific author with many published finance articles to his credit, and is in high demand as a speaker for global financial services firms and exchanges. He is known for providing crucial perspectives in foreign and domestic regulatory matters, and has presented his findings to the Security and Exchange Commission.
Lenz will continue to conduct and publish research while at FRG. To this end, he will maintain his ties to several universities, including Washington University in St. Louis, MO, where he received both his Master of Science in Finance and his Doctorate. He currently sits on the advisory boards for the Center for Finance and Accounting Research at Washington University, and the Risk and Uncertainties Management Center at The University of South Carolina.
Lenz said he is excited to join FRG as it continues to develop and expand its product and services offerings.
“I’ve known individuals at FRG for years, the opportunity to meet others furthered my resolve to join them,” he said. “The culture of constant learning, taking the acquisition of knowledge and new skills in stride is another aspect of FRG that directly aligns with my own values.”
